Why Choose Us
"I had a teaching career for over 10 years but had to give it up. After having my own child, I couldn't find a quality nursery that met my needs as a parent. I had to make a decision. So, I decided to leave my career and open my own nursery called Banana Moon.

Hi, I'm Bakshi Sidhu the Director of this award winning nursery. I would personally like to invite you to come and see what's been created for your child. A place where they'll learn through fun and play with continuous care and compassion. A place where memorable moments are created for all families that last forever.

At Banana Moon we see everything from your point of view, that's why we've created a caring, loving and secure environment for your child that is aged from 3 months to 5 years."
5 Star Facilities For Your Child
Baby Room 3 months to 2 years

In this Banana Moon world our babies are known as Baby Moons, and our baby room cares for children from the age of three months until they are confidently mobile. We have a separate sleeping room and changing facilities for them.

Our baby rooms are bright, cheerful and stimulating, offering a caring environment. The emphasis is very much on providing home-from-home care for your child with lots of play, love and attention.

Your little one will be encouraged to explore the world of colour, shape and texture through the use of natural light, toys, adult interaction and lots of sensory experiences.

We work on a 3 to 1 children to staff ratio with the continuity of staff being a priority.

We work closely with you to ensure your baby’s home routine is followed, as this provides stability for you and your child.

The transition from your home to nursery life can be worrying.  That's why we arrange free convenient settling-in sessions so that you can feel assured that your little one is comfortable and happy with their new nursery. During these sessions, you'll want to discuss any special requirements your baby may need with the nursery staff .

Toddler Room - Mini Moons 2 to 3 years

At two years of age, your child will enter the world of our Mini Moons. These rooms care for children aged two to three years of age with a maximum of 4 to 1 children to staff ratio.

These rooms are full of busy energy as at this age, your child will be able to experience a wider range of educational yet fun activities that have been carefully selected to stimulate their ever-expanding minds.

When it comes to potty training, we will encourage your child to be as independent as possible. All we ask is that you bring in lots of spare clothes in case they have a little accident, so they will have their own clothes ready to be changed into.

With the EYFS planning and observation system in place, the nursery staff will be actively encouraging your child’s interests, offering them further opportunities to explore.

Within these rooms, they start to prepare for pre-school, so self-selection of activities and independence is encouraged throughout the day.

Pre-School Room - Full Moons Up To 5 years

Our Full Moons are our pre-schoolers; children aged three years to school age who are looked after by our team with an 8 to 1 children to staff ratio.

With your child's interests being at the centre of all planning, the day passes by quickly, as the fun never stops! Children learn through fun and play.

During free play sessions, your little one will be encouraged to be independent and to make their own choices from a wide range of different activities. A structured day is centred on individual learning where progress is carefully observed and recorded by your child’s Key Person. This, along with lots of fresh air, provides a busy day for all in the Pre-School Rooms.

At the end of your child's time in pre-school, they will have increased levels of confidence and be socially interactive.  This will  helps them experience a smooth transition to full-time schooling and support their progression of continuous learning.

Here's What Parent's Have To Say
We LOVE our parents and carers and we're so proud to share some of their thoughts with you...
Curriculum

We offer a play-based day that has hidden learning opportunities!

We provide well-planned indoors and outdoors experiences that are based on your child’s interests. Our staff team will support all children to learn through fun and enjoyment whilst challenging their minds physically and mentally.  You child will have a balance of child-initiated and adult-led play-based activities so that they get the best support whilst building their confidence and independance.

We use the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) as a starting point for our own educational programme. The Early Years Foundation Stage is a statutory framework that is fully embedded in all aspects of nursery life.

Our educational programme allows your child to experience quality learning and development opportunities, from the day they start until the day we say goodbye. The Banana Moon Educational Programme includes allocated time for your child to take part in physical movement sessions, science and exploration opportunities, mathematical and literacy daily challenges.  We also provide them with experiences of cooking with the on-site chef along with many more fun activities

Banana Moon Day Nursery will provide your child with a firm foundation on which to build future academic, social and emotional success.

Nutrition

At Banana Moon we recognise the importance of providing a nutritious, well-balanced meal as the foundation of a fun and educational eating experience. Our recipes are created, using fresh seasonal ingredients to create tasty and well-balanced meals.

Our wide choice of menus reflects the cultural diversity of our little diners and of course we cater for all allergies and other dietary requirements.

With family-style serving, we ensure that the eating experience within the nursery connects with the food you serve at home. We offer a carefully designed mix of familiar foods as well as encouraging your child to explore new tastes and sensations. We will keep you updated with what your child likes and dislikes and will share our recipes with you, just incase you would like to cook the same meals at home.

We offer two home-cooked hot meals per day, as well as having healthy snacks available at certain times during the morning and afternoon sessions. Younger babies have a separate weaning menu and we will work closely with you to ensure that the individual needs of your child are met.

We encourage the older children to develop independence by allowing them to self-serve their own food. We aim to include educational elements wherever possible, by discussing the source of the ingredients and getting the children involved in mealtime preparations.  This create a happy and sociable experience for them to enjoy.

Pudding Times may vary depending on location

Sample of puddings may include: Rhubarb oat crumble with Custard, Cinnamon bananas and yoghurt.
Extra Things We Have
Fingerprint Biometrics Access

Security is our priority at Banana Moon. With this in mind we operate a ‘fingerprint’ biometric access system to protect children and nursery staff. This means you hold the keys to your very own nursery within the tip of your fingers.

You simply press your fingerprint on a sensor pad at the door to gain fast, easy access. We operate an “open house” policy where registered parents can enter the nursery any time of the day. They can leave or collect their children without fuss while unregistered visitors must wait for admission by a member of staff.

CCTV

Banana Moon operates CCTV throughout the nursery. This added security is there for the protection and peace of mind of children, staff and parents. The presence of the external cameras also act as a powerful deterrent to any unwelcome visitors.

All recorded footage is stored and erased after a set period in accordance with our privacy policy. If you have any concerns, please speak to a member of our team who will be happy to assist.

Outdoor Play

In addition to all of our indoor activities and facilities, your child will go outside every day for fresh air and exercise. Banana Moon considers outdoor play to be an essential part of children’s learning and development.

We believe your child need lots of variety of play and learning environments as part of their development. Playing and having the room to run around outside will not only improve their physical health, but will also stimulate their minds as they discover outdoor activities and experience the different seasons.

Sleep Room

We have a dedicated sleep room with soft lighting and natural wood cots. This calm and quiet room provides a restful environment for babies, allowing them to enjoy a comfortable nap without being disturbed by any external noise. Each child has their own bed linen, which is regularly laundered in-house.

All sleeping babies are, of course, very closely monitored to ensure their safety and well-being. The sleep room is CCTV-monitored and members of staff regularly check in on the babies. In addition, we endeavour to adhere to your desired and established sleep routines at all times.

Interactive Screen

Our nursery is equipped with a number of interactive screens, which provide an interactive learning experience for children of all ages. Adding this technology to the nursery environment encourages the little ones to explore the world of ICT in bite-sized chunks.

The screens promote immersive and collaborate learning, and are designed to enhance the learning experience of the children. They also encourage greater interactivity and improve hand-eye coordination. If you have any questions about the screens, please talk to a member of the Banana Moon team.

Here's a small sample of some of the great things your child can enjoy when they join our setting, including weekly visits to the library and the local park.
"I'm impressed at how caring the staff are and she loves being able to go outside so much. The space is welcoming and well thought out. She goes in happily in the mornings!" RN
Here are some comments from our parents' and carers' survey:
"All the staff are very friendly and helpful"

"We would (and have) very much recommend the nursery as we've been very impressed by the staff, care, and enjoyment our daughter gets from going."
"They keep you updated with your child's progress, encourage children to learn and get involved with different activities"

"Everything is wonderful, the staff are excellent and our little girl loves it!"
"The staff are wonderful and always happy. You can tell all the children are happy at the nursery and there's lots for children to do. The outside facilities are brilliant and the nursery is nice and clean"
"I love the friendly nature of the nursery and the fact that the nursery are heavily involved in local community activities, and have great links with the local infant school"

"When I looked round I was impressed by the space and how it was organised and the sorts of activities out for the children. I was also really impressed with the garden, I think that's a lovely space for the children! Doing a school day is really helpful for me as I have an older child so paying for hours outside of school hours would be a waste. The staff all seem to have really nice relationships with the children."

"Both my children enjoy their time there and staff are responsive and approachable"
"Lovely little nursery that has the children at its heart"

"The nursery is a very friendly environment, and a has a very homely and personal feel. The staff are fantastic, whilst there has been a small turnover of staff recently, this has not negatively impacted the care the nursery provides. And somehow you manage to find equally great staff to replace those who have moved on. We are confident with the care and support the nursery offer our little one, which is why we will be keeping our small person here right up until she starts school"
"Approachable staff, fun activities, small, caring environment. Eleanor loves it!"

"Caring and loving staff"

"My child loves nursery! She's always happy and content and I like checking what's she's been up to on Parent Zone"

"Really friendly, homely and safe. My daughter is really happy"

"The staff are lovely and are totally engaged with the children and parents. The nursery has a 'homely' feel to it. Thanks to the staff, Freya is engaged in all kinds of activities. She is confident and happy. She loves the staff and the nursery. The wonderful environment has made me (us!) very happy in my transition back to work"

Reviews:

Take a look at the reviews on our facebook page. We have lots of happy families :)
We are rated Good by Ofsted. Here are some of the comments from our latest report.
You can read the full report here.

"Children enjoy a varied range of activities, which reflect their interests and choices. Consequently, children are continually absorbed in purposeful play and are motivated and active learners. "
"Staff motivate children by enthusiastically joining in with their play. They carefully listen to what children say and do, ensuring children feel valued and boosting their self-esteem and confidence. As a result, children are obtaining the skills, attitudes and dispositions they need to be ready for school or the next stage of learning. "

"Outside, children enjoy exploring water using various containers, making marks on the chalkboard and planting and growing. Daily access to the improved range of opportunities in the outdoor area ensures children are able to practise jumping and balancing, throwing and catching and negotiating their way around the available space, to support their physical development. "
"The delightful Sky room provides children with opportunities to develop an understanding of the world. At times, children and staff simply lie on their backs and watch the clouds float by through the transparent roof."

"Children are settled and secure. The nursery provides a warm and caring environment where staff get to know children and their parents well as individuals. Children develop trusting relationships with their key person. Settling-in visits are offered on an individual basis so children become familiar with their new environment at their own pace."some of their thoughts with you...
